Banana Samurai - 6/15/2007

Moving Forward - Jessica
Since I'm the "editor," I also end up being the comic critic. I'm the one who tells him when the /characters look weird. In an upcoming "Banana Samurai" strip, Puggy and the nunchakus looked super weird initially. I made him change Puggy. ^_^ I wanted Joe to make the backgrounds more in the sumi-e style, but he doesn't always take my advice. Oh well.
Been seeing some of the summer movies. Liked "Ocean's 13." Also saw "Surf's Up," which was way better than I thought it'd be. The kid penguins are super cute. The girl one kinda reminded us of Penny.
Samurai Adventures - Joe
So, this is the long in the making "Banana Samurai" comic. I just haven't gotten around to working on it till now. The initial comics just didn't look that good so I just held off on doing anything with it. Fifty comic episodes in, I felt that my skills were good enough to go back and work on "Banana Samurai" once again. This episode is basically a prettified version of the initial comic. It used to look so simple and plain but now it looks pretty cool. The next episode really shows my improved skill in creating action based comic panels. It's got that "Battle Angel Alita" style of robotic carnage, with mangled metal innards and wires flying out. Also I kind of was influenced by endless "Samurai Jack" episodes where Jack fought thousands of robots at a time. Cool stuff, indeed. I miss that show.
